New Premises Update – Evolution House, Westmead Drive, West Swindon (subject to planning permission)

For those that have not seen any of the plans or photographs I attach a few thumbnails for your perusal, plus a local area plan of ‘how to get there’.

Impressive eh, no problems with car parking here! FYI there will be more detailed photographs in the Centre early in the New Year, in addition there are drawings of the proposed internal layouts which you can comment on should you want to propose a modification.

We are currently awaiting a decision from the Council regarding our ‘change of use’ application this can take anything up to two months but this has been in now for a few weeks so early in the new year we should get a decision. There has already been a ‘pre submission’ application where the council were shown the broad application, subsequent to this they suggested various modifications which were completed prior to ‘official’ submission. Anyway fingers crossed for an early positive reply. In addition to this the lease is being negotiated with our co owner Jon Bowles, whom, you will remember, is our ‘White Knight’ as was described in the last Newsletter.

We received absolutely fabulous news just prior to Christmas regarding our application to the Bradbury Foundation for increased funding. As you will probably remember, they had confirmed a year ago that we had been successful with our original request for £185,000. We subsequently applied for an increase to £250,000 to help fit out the New Centre to our requirements such as the new HDOT Chamber, leisure areas, furniture etc. This we can now do, and it is all down to the persuasive efforts of Dave and Jackie. I think I speak for all of the Trustees, and the membership, when I thank them for their hard work, commitment, and endeavour that went into arranging and negotiating this.
